Laptop Suspended while closed, power adapter in on, DC power adapter is dead
I'm currently having a problem with my laptop (thinkpad x220), where when it's suspended and the power adapter is plugged in (the battery is dead), the laptop suddenly completely suspends (i.e. does not respond to keyboard or mouse input). If the power adapter is not plugged in, the laptop just hibernates.
This problem seems to be very new to me. Only today, after I plugged in the power adapter, the laptop suspended and I was in a meeting. It was not connected to the network, I did not do anything, it just suddenly turned off. (Strange enough, the network was working for a while, since I was on the internet, but then it suddenly cut out).
So this morning I tried to fix the problem, and that's when it got out of hand. I don't know if I remember correctly, but I did try to turn the adapter on and off a few times. So I unplugged the adapter, it was on, and I plugged it back in. After that, it behaved like usual, not when plugged in. I tried to restart the laptop, the same thing happens.
The weird thing is that I tried to use an AC adapter to plug in, instead of the DC adapter, and that did not change anything. (It did not even seem to know that there was a battery, since the power indicator stayed on).
So I suspect that it has something to do with the charger, since it only happens when plugged in. And my laptop has a non-working DC adapter.
I'm not very sure if there's something about AC adapters, but I tried that too. And I also tried to remove the battery, but that didn't change anything either.
So I'm not sure what to try next. Could it be the adapter?
Also, I would have uploaded a picture, but apparently I'm a new user, and I do not have any credits.
So, the problem is that the laptop would suspend even with a dead battery, and then, the battery would seem to be charging.
I was shocked because my laptop was not working like this. It was working fine, and then suddenly, I would boot into windows and it would say that there was no battery. After a few seconds it would say that the battery was charging. I would then boot into Ubuntu and notice that the battery was also dead. This made no sense to me.
It seems that the laptop was suspended when the battery was dead, and it was just "charging" at 0b46394aab
